This event, held on the margins of the 2025 UN General Assembly, will be an opportunity to consider the NCD agenda beyond the 4th High-Level Political Declaration on NCDs and Mental Health.
Speakers and discussants will draw on their practical knowledge of operationalising NCD policy to share concrete action points for stakeholders at the national, regional, and global levels to drive impact, using the Political Declaration as a catalyst to ensure accountability. Beyond the UN HLM: Leading the Post-2025 NCD Agenda event will engage Member States, UN agencies, civil society, and people living with NCDs in a forward-thinking dialogue considering the impacts of the Political Declaration, with a particular focus on areas that need strengthening.
The event aims to inspire and encourage further action at national and regional levels—not only to meet existing targets, but also to go beyond the Political Declaration, where the NCD community seeks greater progress. While the content will centre on government policy, speakers will also highlight the crucial roles of civil society and people living with NCDs in policy development, implementation, and accountability. This event will also lay the groundwork for the next High-Level Meeting on NCDs and Mental Health.
