Brazilians in favour of regulating unhealthy drinks and foods

Undefined

A recent survey carried out by the Alliance for Tobacco Control (ACT+) [1] has revealed vast support for national policies to reduce alcohol abuse and unhealthy food consumption, following the model of tobacco control measures in place.

“85% of people surveyed supports national regulations and think that advertising of cigarettes, alcoholic beverages and high-fat foods is a way for manufacturers to increase consumption and sale of these products”, highlights ACT+.

ACT+ made this announcement on 1st September 2014, at the launch of the first “Civil Society Report on the Situation of NCDs in Brazil”. The organization called for more awareness-raising campaigns amongst young people on the risks factors [2]of NCDs.
