The current Rev.2 draft of the Political Declaration represents a serious and imminent risk to the negotiations and overal outcome of the HLM4.

The current version has been systematically weakened. The language on commitments has bee watered down throughout, particularly on the cos-effective NCD prevention politices and fiscal measures, and the ambition of the targets in most sections has been flattened. With less than a week of negotiations remaining, the NCD Alliance is calling on governments to demonstrate true leadership and resist last-minute compromises that prioritise commercial interests over public health and reflect a genuine commitment to protecting lives.

Final negotiations are expected on 30-31 July — this is our last chance to shape the outcome. We urge advocates to contact your Ministry of Health, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Permanent Mission in New York to demand a strong, measurable and evidence-based declaration. See template letter here.
